WowWee’s Robopet

Tired of cleaning up your dog’s mess is something most pet lovers encounter in their daily lives. Apart from the fact that they can leave behind fur or pea on your favorite sofa or even on the bed, they can also become a bit annoying at times. Especially when you put on your shoes in the morning before you go to work and found out that it’s filled with dog saliva. I am not a dog hater, in fact, I do have one at home and I love the companion he gives me but now I’m having second thoughts on keeping him since I saw Wowwee’s Robopet.

Ai Pleo Dinosaur

I guess most of us have seem AI. It is a movie about a robot that was designed to act like a human being with emotions. The idea is not far fetch as more toy companies nowadays are making robots that can interact with its owners through simple commands. It can even scan its surrounding and find something that it can play with autonomously.

Here comes Pleo Dinosaur. Pleo is a robotic dinosaur created in the appearance and behavior of a week young baby dinosaur specifically the Camarasaurus specie. The creator of Pleo has choosen this particular type of dinosaur because its stock head, body shape, and relatively large head which make it convenient for hiding the sensors and motors needed for its lifelike motion. According to the toy manufacture, each Pleo is unique as it will adapt and learn from its experiences and environment through a high tech artificial intelligence and will develop unique personality somehow like an ordinary living things do.

If you don't want the smell of your pets pooh or don't like the mess created by a dog then this type of toys is great pet replacement if you don't want the responsibility of keeping a biological one. I still prefer a live pet but this one is a great addition of which your lovely and cuddly chihuahua could play with.

Intelligent Robot Toys

Robot toys are the most interactive toys that even adults would bother having. With the technology that is advancing, it’s no surprise that there is a robot that can be controlled via the Internet. The Meccano Spyke Wi-Fi Spy Robot is one of those robots. It can be controlled through a local connection or via the Internet by using the software provided by the manufacturing company.

The robot can stand at about 1 foot high, and can act as your personal walking, talking spy, a wireless VOIP phone, a webcam, a digital music player and even personal video surveillance with its motion detector. As a VoIP phone, it is compatible with Skype 3.0 technology.

The Spykee is a fun robot to toy with, but it is also very useful. Using its motion detector, it activates an alarm or sends you a picture via e-mail. It has video filters, light and sound effects and it can let you call someone for free through the Internet with the use of a VoIP phone. The best thing about the Spykee is that when its battery is weak, it returns to the recharging base by itself so it does not give you any hassle.

Evolving Robot Toys

Tracing back to the early 17th century, one of the first who invented robot toys was a Frenchman named Jacques de Vaucanson. Using automation, he was able to make a mechanical duck that was capable of flapping its wings, eat grain and can even excrete. After the amazing invention, the Japanese took the limelight and still holds the most technologically advanced robots so far.

During the early 1930s, a humanoid robot was introduced by Westinghouse Electric Corp. it was called Elekro. England also contributed to the development of robot toys, William Grey Walter was able to develop the first electronic powered robot.

But during 1954 the world was fascinated with George Devol’s first programmable robot, which made a big leap from the previous models. Instead of being toys, the robots were used by General Motor Corporation for manufacturing car parts.

Today, Japan holds the title of inventing the most sophisticated robot toys. Sony introduced AIBO, the first robot dog that can play inside a room using sensors. In 2001 Omron in the hopes of beating AIBO developed its very own cat robot named NeCoRo. This robotic cat used the MaC technology or otherwise known as Mind and Consciousness Technology that enables the robot to develop its very own feelings. There is no telling what we should expect next.
